Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen by Christopher McDougall

Thanks to Bob and Jon for recommending it, it's a great book confirming many of the things I had in my mind about running, especially with regard to nutrition, shoes and posture. Give it a read!

I read that on high-school, before I even started running, I think I should read it again!
Here is a bit more info!

book review
Apparently, the book has also been made into a film! Will add it to the film forum!
Yes...the film was damn good as well. It came out in 1962 and apparently will reach Japan next year! :-)
I should try to watch it before that! And, referring to the first book on our list, had my own Tarahumara experience today!
Being a website about running in japan, suprised no one's mentioned 'What I talk about when I talk about running' by Haruki Murakami! Its a short, pleasant read, and if you're a fan of Murakami and his writing too then its a must. A really humble, down to earth account of the important place running takes in Murkami's life. He hasn't broken any world records but i'm not going to either so i can definitely relate!

I should buy that one!
Thanks Jessica,
I've been meaning to read that for ages
I recently purchased a good second hand copy of the great New Zealand triple Olympic Gold medalist Peter Snell's autobiogarphy 'No Bugles No Drums' (1965). Very detailed account of his many races and training. As an added bonus its signed by the man himself. Not a bad pick up for $10.
Certainly very interesting concerning the large amount of distance work he put in before stepping on the track to run the 800/1500.
Born to run is now available in Japanese! 日本語版もあります。
And Korean!
I've just recieved my copy of Better Training For Distance Runners. Written by Dr David Martin, one of the most eminent sports physiologists in the world and Peter Coe ( yes the father and coach of Sebastian), it covers literally everything you need to know about training, kinesiology, and exercise physiology. The book also approaches each event from 800metres to the marathon in great detail. And yes Juergen a great deal is written about multi tier training- the brain child of Frank Howell who was Peter Coe's influence.
It is a major piece of work and should be one of the most important books in a coach's library
Great, gotta get one!!
