Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen by Christopher McDougall

Thanks to Bob and Jon for recommending it, it's a great book confirming many of the things I had in my mind about running, especially with regard to nutrition, shoes and posture. Give it a read!

Galloway’s Book on Running Is a Must-Read for Runners of All Levels

It’s the definitive general guide to running, and in addition, has training programs for three races. It shows novices how to get started and stick with it. It also has serious training advice for competitive racers. It will get you moving and keep you motivated to make running your secret to good health for the rest of your life!

“ Galloway not only knows his craft, but also has the rare ability to convey this knowledge through teaching.”
–Frank Shorter

“ If there were a literary Olympics, Galoway's book would take the gold in the distance events—running away.”
-Fred Hatfield
Sports Fitness Magazine
Frank Shorter introduced me to Galloway at the World Champs in Canada. I did not know who he was!! :-(
Ooops, did I miss something here? What's the title? Can you post a link and title page?
I just ordered Born to Run finally. Been meaning to for a long time. I will check back once I make significant progress.
Winning Ways:In search of your best performance. by Rudi Webster 1984.
This is the best book I have read regarding mental application for racing and training. I used this book a lot when I was first trying to break 3 hours for the Marathon.
Really great read.
Jon
I see. Book seems still available on amazon, but no test-reading available...
I found this of GREAT help. Good stuff about self confidence...presure...concentration....self talk.
This forum really provides me with reading suggestions for years...
MY LIFE ON THE RUN by Bart Yasso.2008
Very good read. Chief running officer for Runner`s World. Apparently he has run over 1000 races (well haven`t we all Juergen?!). He invented the Yasso 800s.
Cost me about 1800 yen. Well worth the money.
Thanks a lot, will follow up with Amazon info on that one soon!
I have just purchased a second hand copy of `The loneliness of the Long distance runner` by Alan Sillitoe.
Very cheap from second hand place here in Tokyo. I have read many times but its worth a second (or fifth) read. An oldie but a goodie. 1959.
