Running in Tokyo/Japan - Marathon/Clubs/Track Races

東京でのマラソン・陸上・駅伝・・・・・体を鍛えて、環境を守ってエコマラソン

Held in a very pleasant park surrounding a reservoir. Great nature and my dog Prince was free to run around and greet everyone. I was not expecting such a nice day, and great to see so many Nanban people running (Elsie/Adrian) organizing (Bernd, Juegen (Race Director), Greg, Masako, Chiba etc….).
The course was 2 loops around the resevoir. Mostly flat and no u turns, so fast. Delighted to run 2 minutes and 20 seconds faster than my last 10k at the vegetable marathon 1 month ago. My time at Saiko Eco was 40 mins and 20 seconds. Fitness is back, now just need to lose 4kg of fat and get my fat % back to 8% by start of triathlon season. My research suggests race weight is somewhere between 6 and 8% for men and I was in this bracket in 2010 when I had some nice results. On the run, 1kg of unnecessary fat (or muscle) costs 40 seconds over 10k run. The global authority on this is Harrison, as he has memorized a book that came out last year called “Racing Weight”. 35th/440 so just made top 10%.
The men`s race was at 10 am, and so there was time for lunch afterward before the women`s race. curry and German sausages was my choice from the vendors. The Yakult tent looked after my dog while I ran, so I bought 12 yogurts. During the interval there were other festivities, but was chatting to Greg, so missed the music and the Race Director`s dance.
Fun to cheer on the ladies and had the honor of holding the finish tap for the top 10 ladies with Greg. We felt like celebrities. Anyhow, thanks everyone for a great day.
