12 December: Tengu Trail 18K & 10K

Nice day to run through the woods of Mount Takao for this year Tengu trail race.

I joined the 10K, took a wrong turn and climbed the wrong mountain. Returned on my steps all the way down, climbed again (the correct mountain this time), fell heavily on my butt, fell again face forward but managed the regain my balance in time and just touched the ground with my hands. Run like hell in the last 3K all downhill to the finish line and recovered 2 positions.

Got 3rd in my age… Continue

Kamakura Spiritual Run

Run. No word has so much controversy: run. You love it, you hate it, you promised yourself you will never do it again, yet you are back on the road faster than you think. Run....…

Oxfam Japan Trailwalker 100Km

The gun went off at 09:00 on 16May but we knew this would have been a long journey before reaching the finish line and an unusual race. In fact it does not really fit the terms of "race" as there is no individual time because each Team of 4 participants has to register together at each of the 8 checkpoints.

It took our Team 23 hours and 25 minutes to complete the 100Km with the satisfaction to finish within 24 hours and placing 8th over about 220 Teams.

The Trailwalker… Continue

Oxfam Trailwalker Japan 100K. We need your donation!

My Company has entered 5 Teams into the 100K Oxfam Trailwalker Japan and I am in one of the Teams.

100K it is not an easy distance and not a distance that normally we would challenge.

Having done part of the Trailwalker course as training we already know that this 100K will not be easy. On top of the distance there are the terrain and the elevation that will make the challenge difficult.

Nevertheless our Team knows there is a just cause to go for it. The physical effort is… Continue

"Only think of two things - the gun and the tape. When you hear the one, just run like hell until you break the other."

I don't have a photo of the Shibuya Ekiden but I think many, including nice videos, have been uploaded. So I want to add only my comments instead.

A big thanks goes to anyone involved in the organization of this fine day, especially to Jurgen, Mutsumi and Mika, taking care of all the entries & restaurant arrangements, making Shibuya Ekiden and enjoyable and memorable day.

As for my part, I run the first leg of the Master B Team (which, by the way, won over the "A" Team !).…

Tanzawako Marathon - 25NOV07

Tanzawako Marathon was meant more for a day trip out of Tokyo than a race. In fact, having just come back from Ohtawara, I was undecided if to go or not until the very last minute and this indecision took me there just 10 minutes before the race start! My warm up was from the bus stop to the desk to collect the race number, run back to the start line, pass all my clothes to my son and run! I joined the 5K and finished 5th in the over 40 category in 17:39. Quite few… Continue

WARR: World Airline Road Race - 28OCT08

This year WARR (World Airline Road Race) took place in Sydney.
A nice day for a scenic race course along Darling Harbour. May be too many twists and turns but overall, apart for two small uphills, very flat.
Unfortunately the race did not go as I wanted after having trained for so long and so hard...but not everything can be perfect. In Italy there is a say that goes "not all the donugths come with a hole"!
So,…
