Running in Tokyo/Japan - Marathon/Clubs/Track Races

東京でのマラソン・陸上・駅伝

Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen by Christopher McDougall

Thanks to Bob and Jon for recommending it, it's a great book confirming many of the things I had in my mind about running, especially with regard to nutrition, shoes and posture. Give it a read!

Changing sport here but I know it will interest plenty of members, I picked up a copy of a new book on the Lance Armstrong scandal, last Saturday. The Wheelmen. Written by two Wall Street journalists. And boy what a read it is!
Will review it when I've finished as it is too good a book to give a half hearted review.

Currently reading, really a confidence-booster for avoiding animal products and still feel strong!

Eat & Run: My Unlikely Journey to Ultramarathon Greatness is a 2012 autobiography by ultramarathon champion Scott Jurek[1] and Steve Friedman. It was published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt on June 5, 2012.[2] The book was an instant New York Times best seller, debuting at #7 in hardback non-fiction[3] and remained in the bestseller lists into the next month.[4] It has been translated into twenty different languages.

It relates Jurek's childhood in Minnesota, his growing interest in sport, family life and career. It also covers his change in eating habits, from a standard meat-eating diet through to vegetarianism and finally becoming a vegan. Each chapter ends with one of his favorite vegan recipes.

Amazing....I just purchased this book on Kindle yesterday. Seems good so far. He has another one called something like ' running with the Japanese' .....which I will buy next.
I have lots of books...maybe we should start a library. :-)
The one about Japan is called 'The way of the Runner', I think it has just come out, sounds similarly interesting! And I agree about the library!
I recently purchased Derick Clayton 's book (1980). Cost me one dollar ( 100 ¥). Good read as well.
Where did you get it?
We call them op shops in Australia....second/ third hand stuff. If you are interested I will bring in October.
BEST book I have read is. Charlie Spedding's. ' From last to first.'
Nice, I am always interested in good books!
