Running in Tokyo/Japan - Marathon/Clubs/Track Races

東京でのマラソン・陸上・駅伝・・・・・体を鍛えて、環境を守ってエコマラソン

Today, a small group of about six Nambanners ran the Ogawamachi Washi Halfmarathon. It is a really nice race, well organized, with good support by the local community. Furthermore, the start is only 1.5k from my second home, so it is very convenient for me, and for my friends, who are always invited!

Among our small group, I was fastest in 1:25:55, followed by Terry Minegishi about two minutes behind. Mika Tokairin, our only female participant, finished ninth among women, fourth in age-group. I thought I was to slow for a podium finish, I really slowed down from 5k-9k, as it is uphill and against the wind, but some runners I met on the train told me that my time was probably good enough for top-ten! Will find out later!

In the 10k, Taro Obuchi ran a wind-delayed 42min!

Really great race, so it deserves a larger number of Namban participants - put it into your calendar for next year!

And, not to forget, thanks a lot to Kana and Bernd for coming out to support! A great help and inspiration for me!

Good job, Tadgh! How was the course? (Better, write  a little independent post about it...)

Shoot, I knew it...But why don't they find out that I'm German when I talk on  the phone!

Well, stuck the chip to my shoe the proper way, how can they tell I'm a gaijin just by the number...

Sorry to hear that!! If its a 50 plus age group I would think certainly top 10 with a 1-25.

Maybe you ran up the wrong mountain like Fabrizio.....or maybe something about being a Gaijin!!!

I heard on the train that my time, 1:25:55, was probably good enough for a podium finish, but found myself listed dnf on runnet! How can that happen? A bit upset!
