Running in Tokyo/Japan - Marathon/Clubs/Track Races

東京でのマラソン・陸上・駅伝・・・・・体を鍛えて、環境を守ってエコマラソン

I run Naha Marathon in Okinawa on 7th Dec.
Naha marathon is 2nd largest marathon in Japan. There are over 30000
entry. Last Sunday was a good sunny day. Nice weather for marathon.
My finish time was 2:53:16. I think it was good time for me.
Because, the course was very tough. It was not easy to run by even pace.
It was almost flat by 10km point. 10km to 20km was going up to 90m.
20km to 25km was down hill. 25km to 37km was almost flat. But,the soft
wind was against me after 30km. 37km to 40km was going up again.

Place:60th of 18654 finisher(26973 were started)

Naha marathon is just fun race. It is not hard. A time limit is 6 hours. It is long time.
Naha marathon is a kind of festival for Okinawa peoples. They enjoy running and picnic.
Thye do just running and drink under the blue sky. Finish is not important for them.
So, a large number of non-runner took part in. Someone run martahon without training.
This race is made by a little number of serious runner and a large number of ordinary people.

Probably.
Always strange to me that someone would just enter a marathon on a wim or because they happened to be in the country when the race was on.

Maybe it's a tourist's race, in such events, there are high drop-out-rates.

If 26,000 started and 18,000 finished does that mean 8,000 dropped out/failed to finish?
Must have been a very hard race.
Well done on 2-53 !
