Running in Tokyo/Japan - Marathon/Clubs/Track Races

東京でのマラソン・陸上・駅伝・・・・・体を鍛えて、環境を守ってエコマラソン

Cory, Chika, Adrian, Satohi and I ran the Jingu Gaien 3 Hour Relay at the National Stadium which was used for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. It was the first time for all of us to to a time relay. The idea is to run a 1.4k lap around the stadium over and over for 3 hours and the team that runs the most laps wins! The runner can choose to run 1 lap or more. Generally we ran 1-3 laps each for the first 2 hours and realized we were in 47th place out of 383 teams! Not bad! Then we had a meeting and decided to go for speed and started doing one lap each until the 3 hours expired. We started moving up the rankings and ended up in 31st place among 383 teams! The strategy worked. All in all we had a great time running in this format. It was very very dramatic! What was really different from any other race/ekiden that any of us had ever run was that after our run we have to get ready to run again......and again......and again!

@Adrian: Rare comment coming from someone so not into color (except his green Adizeros!) LOL

It was a very nice afternoon of running. And hey, we look very color-coordinated too!
