Looks like I'll be in Tokyo starting on the 17th. Track workout in Shibuya on Wednesdays right? Not sure if I can make the first one (the day I arrive) but might want to show up for a tune-up the week of the Tokyo marathon.

Hey Juergen. Been busy enjoying Tokyo. Been running in the morning around the Imperial palace, yoyogi and thereabouts. I could not get to the intervals on wednesday as I had plans made for me. Going long tomorrow morning but probably do laps of Imperial as it is nice running there where lots of others are doing it too.
I tried the interval session today. Harder than I expected and the wind at the 200m turn did not help.
I can clearly see my weakness. I did get confused and did 3x300m rather than 2. I will do this session for a few weeks to get it under control and see my improvement.
Thanks for putting a link to The Scientist Runner in your site. I also embedded a Running in Tokyo badge on my website and have referred inquiries about running in Japan to your site.
Thanks Juergen. Actually I wrote you an email last week inquiring about the Korean ultramarathon. I'm interested in running 100k road so it would be great if you can provide more details! Thanks a lot. - Joey
He now coaches Craig Mottram who was the best non African middle distance runner about 5 years ago and was the 2nd non African to break 13 minutes for 5000metres.
The kenyans called him The Big Mazungo (The big white man) and if you look at him on the internet you'll see why: 185 cm, 70kg , very lean and STRONG; the ideal middle distance runner's build.
Can't wait to come to Japan. Really looking forward to catching up with you. Any chance of a mid week 2 hr jaunt on one of your interesting courses in Tokyo? But something with quite a smooth surface as my ankle might not quite be up to tackling a trail.
Probably Australia's top distance runner back in the 70s. Olympic 10k finalist, and I think he also competed in the 80 Olympic marathon. Also very outspoken....fierce advocate for Australia's participation in the Moscow games whilst other Western countries boycotted them because of the Russian invasion of Afghanistan, even though I believe that he recieved death threats. Also coached Steve Moneghetti, and his system of coaching is widely used by the Australian distance fraternity.

Yes. I live in Cornwall, which is on the border with Quebec and the state of New York.
Veeeeery chilly right now. Should get back to normal by the end of the week, say a
-5 to -10. Good running temperatures.
10Km was good fun. PB for the season. Warmed down with another 10km. Good work on the 30km. Hot Spring after sounds awesome!
And younger runners beware! Don't let that smile decieve you;its the face of an assassin armed with a pair of Brooks T6 race flats.
