Running in Tokyo/Japan - Marathon/Clubs/Track Races

東京でのマラソン・陸上・駅伝・・・・・体を鍛えて、環境を守ってエコマラソン

Today, eight members took on the hills at Mt. Takao, it was hot at the station, but the higher we got up the mountain, the better the air felt! But still, I think we drank about one liter per hour of running. Juergen and Robert made it to a pass 2k before Mt. Jinba, but had to return because of time constraints. The others selected shorter routes.

Everybody enjoyed the healthy Soba-noodles after the run, Tetsuya turned out to be a real specialist!

Michael recorded the route:

RE Chemical (MSG, flavour enhancer, amino-acid) free soba stand ... kano-ya

This chain soba noodle stand (with seats, though) is kano-ya (かのや). They do not seem to have a website but you often see them in town (not at stations, I think). There is one in Shinjuku W near the Yodobashi Camera, below

The quality of the soba and the source for this price is simply impossible (mori soba is only 290 yen)....yes, no MSG.
Make sure you choose soba, not udon. Why?....udon is made from refined starch (just like pasta and white sugar), which is not only deplete in minerals but also consume minerals during digestion, depleting the body of minerals. Soba on the other hand containes more minerals (except the cheap ones that are mostly refined starch).
I am soon off to Toronto, see you in three weeks.

Many thanks Juergen for meticulously arranging this. No no, I am not a specialist. I am about to post the soba (for which I am a specialist) information, let me know whether it gets posted all right.

Thanks, Ernesto! We had them with ordinary water, and lots of it. I had some sports-drink right after the run, and of course, enjoyed th "Soba-Yu" with the rest of the cold soup of the noodles! Hope you will make it one day to join us!
