So you will have to contact the Japanrse embassy in Nairobi. I think a tourist visa.I think a tourist visa is what you need, I live in Korea and I don't know the Japanese visa requirements.

As for races that should be no problem however the best person to contact is Juergen Wittstock because he lives there and organises the calender.
