Event Description

Please join us for one of the popular events of the Namban Spring campaign - the Fuji Susono Half-Marathon / 10k / 5k / 3k on May 10th.

Registration opens Thursday, and deadline for application is April 6th via Runnet or Sports Entry.

But, need I say this?, we should not blithely assume that we can wait until the last minute to register this year.

Fuji Susono is a roller coaster course through the villages nestled at the base of Mount Fuji. After a stadium start, the half-marathon course climbs 250 meters over 5k, followed by two rolling loop, then returns downhill back to the finish.

But as veterans of Fuji Susono know, the event is not just about the run. The real highlight is the Gotemba Resort, world-renowned for its pure Hot Springs and the onsite Micro-Brewery featuring Scottish bagpipes, its famous German sausages, and Bavarian-style beer brewed with spring water from deep beneath Mount Fuji

We hope to stay again at the Gotemba Kogen Resort (pending availability)

Accommodation at the Hotel Tokinosumika (boasting Mt Fuji views from every guest room) is 9,500 yen per adult which includes dinner and breakfast.

Transportation to Gotemba Resort is 1:40 minutes by Odakyu Romance Car and hotel shuttle.
(Please inform me very soon if you are interested, and we will try to book accommodations for the group)

On top of the famous Blueberry Lodge, there should also be space at the cosy "Iwata Lodge", run by my friend Issey, within a few minutes drive from Blueberry, but free of charge, and dogs and babies OK. Will have to confirm with him, though. The place accommodates 10-12 (more if neccessary) people, and it will be free of charge. I will make good on my promise to buy Issey an electrical toothbrush, so, contributions are welcome if you stay at his place... We will drive over to Blueberry for all the social events and hot-spring, and as I don't mind to be on juice, you guys can enjoy the German beer!
Let me know if you want to stay there, and if you want to drive out with me, I will rent a van (a Nissan, not a Toyota, old reliable model).
Cheers, Juergen
