Hi Juergen,  I have not met him, YET.  I look forward to working something out with you to enable us to run together in Japan someday.  See you in a few miles....roy  P.S.  Off to Ireland to run in the IAU WCs next Saturday and to celebrate a birthday there on the 7th!
  • Roy Pirrung

Sounds good, Juergen.  I'm sure it will take some doing to arrange anything, but it is worth a shot.  See you in a few miles.....roy

Oh, I see.  I was doing some back reading on your posts and figured that your Thursday 9am deadline was meant for last week and not today.   I'll be vacationing Japan during that week, but let's not push it if the deadline is up.  I don't want to make things difficult for you if that's the case :).  Thank you and have fun with the race..!
  • Roy Pirrung

It wasn't as difficult as you made it sound--thank goodness.  Your directions really helped, thanks for that.  See you in a few miles....roy
  • Takeshi Akasaka

    Thank you for inviting me!

Thank you! I don't think my son could do a  5km race since he is only 5  yrs old but thank you!! I have not joined  a race yet so a shorter one would be a great start for me. I will look into  my husband and sons' schedules since both play soccer every weekend~~ Thank you again :)

    Hi thanks for the acceptance,

I was thinking of doing a race on the 9th of october. The race I am looking at is the Saiko Eco Marathon, is it a marathon distance, 42.2K? and are there still some places left for me to enter?

  • Bill Adams

    Thanks,

Can you please give me the start time and the address.

    Bill

  • rosie edmond

thanks for the acceptance. I just moved to Tokyo two weeks ago and looking for any upcoming 10k races. i don't think i can commit to the training schedule a marathon requires. I only ran one, but now looking to keep running 10ks or smaller. thanks!
  • Darren Tham

Thank you for the kind words. No its not a triathlon picture. I was walking underwater in an aquarium in Bangkok this year. Actually wanted to scuba dive but it would have taken too long and my 9-yr old daughter is too young to join me(they say she needs to be 12 to dive).

So this was the best compromise for the family.

    Hi JUergen,

I hope so too. However I probably won't be in Japan this Feb as I would like to do a couple of cross country races in the UK then. I also want to see my former coach who I'll almost certainly be working with again (online). Well I did run my marathon pr and had 2 years of injury free running under him, so I think it's a no brainer getting coached by him again; seeing that he has a knack of getting the best out of injury prone athletes.  Any plans to visit Korea? Hope your 5k race is a success.

Thank you! I hope to join you very soon, I'll be in Tokyo since January the 9th! I applied for the Tokyo Marathon 2012, let's cross the fingers for the lotery!
  • Makoto Minami

Hi Yuergen, Sorry I couldn't join you. I was with my co-workers. Turtle Marathon was really hot and tough but I made 1'32. Thank you!

I will get my profile all set up and look forward to interacting with everyone.

On 10/14-10/15, I ran a relay with a team of 12 runners from Athens to Atlanta in Georgia for total 200 miles. Each runner ran 3 legs with different distance. We ran through the Appalachia mountains from 9:00am on 10/14 till 2:30pm on 10/15 for total 29 hours and some change. Running through the mountains day and night was an unforgettable experience. We even dressed up in superheroes costume at the start line to send our first runner off. This race is called Southern odyssey relay (SOR) in case anyone is interested. I am going to run the Ragnar series relay from Miami to Key West in January, 2012. Will keep you posted. Now I have to figure out how to upload the race photo from my iPhone.

How do I get in touch with Tetsuya? Could you give him my cell # 386-316-7236?
  • Brian Goldstein

    I would love more info.

Im not sure how often I will be able to join in, at least for the time being but would like to come out when I can.

    Juergen

Thank you for your welcome to the site.

  • John Fowler

I guess Shane is probably not much of a runner, or ever has been... but that is a very nice song. The other "favourite runner" I put down was Joe Strummer, who did actually run 3 marathons: London and Paris twice I believe. What a guy! Although I don't think I will be following his training advice...

  • John Fowler

    Juergen

"London Calling" would be a good song before a run... but how about during a run? I'm one of those runners who listens to music during long runs and marathons. So I have an opinion on what makes a good running song.

  • John Fowler

    Hello Juergen

Thank you for that very kind offer, but actually I live on the Tobu Tojo, so from my place to Ogawamachi should only be an hour or so. I'm looking forward to meeting you there in a few weeks time.

    John

  • John Fowler

    Hi Juergen

I'm at Tobu Nerima - the next stop from Kami-Itabashi! One of these Mondays I intend to come for one of the training sessions - when work allows. I've been running and training on my own for so long it will be strange, but good, to do some running with other people. I look forward to it.

  • JOSE ARAGON

    Hello Juergen,

Hope I can join you guys at Mt Takao in Dec. Do let me know how to.

    Hello, Juergen,

So very glad to see you on line.

Hope to see you somewhere along the road someday.

  • John Martin

Hi Juergen thanks for your welcome message.  I have posted photo and updated profile. Last Sunday I did Sagamiko to Takao-san - what a great day.  I aim to find more like it !

  • Gerard Robb

  • Yoshitaka Ishikawa

which race? I'm already registered vibram HK 100k which will be taken place on Feb18.

  • Hydi Peterson

    Thanks Juergen,

Looks like I might have seen you at the Takao trail run on 12/18.  I was searching for the race results when I found this site.  Please let me know about the races you organize.  When is the next one?  I am going to start training for my first marathon-  I tried to get into the Tokyo marathon but didn't get in so I entered the Nagano Marathon in April.  I live closer to Saitama than downtown but maybe if I am going into town for something anyways I can try to hook up with one of the group runs.

    Thanks again!

    Hydi

    Hello Juergen,

Thanks for your reply. I was not sure really how to send you guys a message, so I registered to your group even though I don't leave in Tokyo....I would actually like to inform the running community in Japan, specially the trail running one, in order to inform them about the race we are organizing in Hong Kong on March 24th. It will be a 50km mountain trail running and also a 15km on the same day, more info=> www.lantau50.com

Thanks again to help us sharing the info within your community.
    Best regards,

    Hello Juergen,

Many thanks for your comment. I have just started running with good running friends. I am still a jogger or even walker, actually. I have many good runner friends who want to have opportunity to communicate with foreigners. I speak English so I would like to do a mid person with foreign runners and my friends, if possible.

Hope my joining this web site makes some people happier!

  • Owain Vaughan Lewes

Yes I do. And a very beautiful part of the world, as well.

I am very excited to experience a run in Tokyo. I have seen that there is a half marathon Sunday in Tokyo and I would like to compete in it. If you could supply me with some info on this race that would be great. Thank you
  • Cory McGowan

Hi Juergen! Thanks! Not sure why I didn't find this earlier...

Yes, I'm still standing at work, and still trying to recommend it to as many people as possible!

  • David Passarelli

    Hi Jurgen,

Thanks for the trailwalker link! I'll be in touch again in a couple of weeks, by which time I think you will be back in Japan (and we will be able to run more 'interesting' distances in the mountains). Safe travels!

  • Kathleen Sirois

Thanks for the welcome and hopefully can meet up with the other runners, maybe when a bit warmer. I am so not a cold runner and especially at night. 5-6 am more my style.

Mentally will have to prepare. Off to the states for a few weeks and it should be nicer when I get back.
