Just completed the New Balance Gold Coast 15 Km Race ( 黄金海岸15K賽 ] in the windy but hot morning at Ting Kau in an OK time of 83 mins today. It's 8 days after my back pain returned intensively. I could hardly walk at the first day while my back pain returned. I became much better after received a massage by a Chinese practitioner on last friday.

Odawara Houtoku 5/10k

This is just the best little semi-inaka race in the area!

All race-officials should be trained there!

Gerard - 34:48 Stuart - 37:29 Mutsumi - 46:00 Daniel - 56:09 Juergen - 18:29 (5k)

Not much to add to Daniel's praise, well, the soba-shop and the onsen were also great!

I was happy to run 18:29, considering I had not practiced for the 5k, and place 4th - just too bad I didn't have the 8 seconds to catch the… Continue

Odawara Houtoku 10K, Nov 2nd 2008

Sunday November 2nd, 2008. Sunny, no wind, great views of Fuji san.

Second race in Odawara and a great success. I had a PB at 10K, negative split and a PB for the 5K.

Five Namban runners (J., M., G., S. and Daniel S.) met at Odawara Houtoku 10k, a pleasant race with many views of Mt. Fuji, 90 minutes out of Shinjuku by Odakyu-Line train. We left in Shinjuku at 7:01 and arrived in Tomizu at 8:30. Reception was well organized and same day applications were gracefully… Continue

Japan EU Friendship Run, 10Km race report

On this weekend, 11th Oct. Saturday, I, Jon san and Tamami san were enjoyed 10Km race in Nakamachidai, Yokohama.

First of all, please let me correct Jon's bog title...actually the race is called Japan EU Friendship Run. The race was part of the German School's October Festival.

The Friendship Run started in last year and then this year was 2nd time. In last year, the race was a small local race and almost all Japanese participants were from Yokohama because even the race was announced… Continue

Tamami-san and I went out to a place called Nakamachidai and ran a 10Km race at the Invitation of fellow Nambaner Chika-san at a German School.

I would say about 400 people plus a kids run of 2.5Km.

A double out and back course over some slight inclines and a few rough spots.Mostly on a path.

A well organised race despite the wierd starting position around an uphill narrow path.

Not a fast course but enjoyable enough.

Tamami-san improved her PB from 49.49 to… Continue

Namsan Friendship Marathon (12k)

Three Nambanners and one Korean friend took part in this race on a demanding course at Mt. Namsan in downtown Seoul. Fortunatly, it was only 15min walk from Fabrizio's hotel. The people were very friendly, and every participant got a lot of presents, including Korean 'Nori', but there was nothing for the winners, as it was considered a 'friendship' race. It was fun though, to be mentioned by the announcer and be on the pics with the… Continue

Goyang 10k/Korea

Today four Nambanners ran the Goyang Marathon (10k) in Daehwa near Seoul. The two women did well, with Mutsumi placing 5th in 45:09, and Satoe (Michael Tandler's girlfriend) finishing the 5k.

BUT! The men's race was a mess! Michael and I ran in a group in 6-9 place, after 3k we ran into the slow half-runners, and when the 5k came, nobody told us where to turn!! I dropped out at nine and made friends… Continue

Japan South Alps

This is not a race report but a trail run report.

The course was very nice (but hard actually) so that I would like to share it with you. This will be your future travel option for coming to Japan.

First of all, people think Alps Mt. is in Switzerland. In fact, we, Japan also has North and South Alps in center of the main island, which locates in between Yamanashi & Nagano prefecture (and share with small part of Shizuoka prefecture)

I and Shoji-san (from Namban Rengo)… Continue

10k in Hungen/15k in Nidda (Germany)

Last Sunday I ran 10k in a small town near my hometown and easily won my age-group (by more than 3min). So, I completed the feat of winning all 10k's in my first year in Germany. Yesterday I ran a 15k, on an easier course, and it was a bit cooler, and placed third in 58:55. Was fastest in my club, followed by a friend who ran a 59:19 PB, too bad we didn't have a third guy for a team, we could have placed top… Continue
