Ome Marathon

It was very sunny day at Ome today.

10k Race was started at 10:00am, but the temperature was already 14? or 16 degree celsius.

My start position was about middle of the long line which is made by about 5000 people. After I heard Gun shot, it took me 1 to 2 mins to get to the start line. Even after I passed the startline, there are still lots of people jogging, it was really slow slow jogging. I tried to go forward, but it was not easy.

I passed so many people, guys mostly,… Continue

Shinrin Koen Kanso Marathon

I ran 10K race, Shinrin Koen Manso Marathon, at Saitama yesterday.

As saying my result first, I set another PB! :)

Weather was crowdy and but not too cold, so I would say it was a good condition for runners. The course was very hilly, almost no flat part, keep up and down.

Personally, I like hilly course. I prefer variation on the course, so I enjoyed this one.

But keep up and down tires your legs quickly. I learned my upper body strength is quite important,… Continue

Betsudai Marathon

In the elite division, Adil Annani of Morocco won the race in 2:10:15 ahead of Seiji Kobayashi in 2:10:38 and Keita Akiba in 2:10:53.

While we are waiting for Yoshida-san's own report!

Congrats to a new PB!

Yoshida-san, 2:43:40

Here is our hero's story:

I ran Beppu Oita Mainichi Marathon on last Sunday. It was my 50th memorial marathon. I finished 2:43:40. It was 4 minutes faster than previous PB. It was the most wonderful performance in my…

Kanagawa Half-Marathon

Here are the comments of several Namban participants:

Jay 1:19:38

I really enjoyed the Kanagawa Half. With over 10,000 participants, the event is certainly at capacity, but somehow I made it to the starting line in the nick of time and joined Martin for a smooth 19:15 first 5k. From there I picked it up – it felt good passing people and I went through the 10k in 38 flat. I was still feeling quite happy and comfortable all the way… Continue

Kanagawa Half

Although I didn't get a chance to say hi to the Namban folks before the race, I was able to say hi to a few while out on the course. As for the race, I dropped my PB below the 1:40 mark to 1:36:07. This is a "gun" time and therefore I am anxiously awaiting the chip time results (could be about 3 mins lower). I had expected there to be markers every Km and was thrown off by the 5km marker. However, I think this made me run faster by "feel" as opposed to micro-managing each km. My 3rd 5K split… Continue

Kanagawa Half/Juergen

1:25;32, not bad considering my focus on speed more than on mileage, but could have done better. Slowed down on the second half after a decent 39:01 10k. Well, it seems in order to do well in half-marathons, you have to run a few of them, one per year is just not enough. Susono should provide good training, so I hope for an improvement in fall!
皆さん、お疲れ様!

Kanagawa Half Marathon -Chika-

Here, one more Kanagawa Half Marathon result.

Chika 1:36:0? (net time)

I'm sutisfied with my result.

I didn't expect good result as I found the weather would be bad, bad for me, cold as mid winter and strong northern wind were forecasted before the day. In fact, today wasn't cold but had strong wind.

Among 8000 people, I would be able to protect myself from wind but I didn't feel it and it reminded me my past result in Ohtawara Marathon in 2007 :( Wind made me slow… Continue

Hot Melbourne Race

Last Tuesday the distance of the Masters race was changed from 6 Km to 2Km due to the temperature being 43 degrees (I don't know why). Anyway Tamami Koike ran her 5th PB for the year and I managed to beat all but 3 of the old men and women runners.

Shinjuku Half 2009

On Sunday, I ran the Shinjuku Half marathon. This is my fifth time to do the race and I thought I new the course well, but this year they changed the course a little bit and I couldn't find ANY kilometer signs during the 21 km. Weird. Wasn't there one in every 5 kilometers? It may be because the event organizer was transferred from the Tokyo Metropolitan government to Shinjuku Ward this year. But, this actually worked better for me. Not knowing exactly how fast I was going, I ran in a pace I… Continue

Shinjuku Half Marathon 2009

Today, I ran 10K at Shinjuku half marathon. It started 12:20 and weather was perfect. Sunny and warm, no wind.

We ran 4 laps around Kokuritsu Kyogijou. It was very crowdy at the beginning, but overall, nice course.

My time was 48min.28sec. which is PB. (47th among all women, 24th among ippan josshi.)

I am pretty happy about it since I could break 49mins wall since after Edogawa marathon last Nov...

Next race will be 10K at Saitama on 11th of Feb., and big one,… Continue

Chiba Marine Half Marathon

I participate to the Chiba Marine Half Marathon for the first time. It's a windy, popular and almost flat course. About 8000 runners took part in the Half Marathon. I'm training for Tokyo marathon and wanted to assess the results of the first two months of preparation. I had new PBs for 15k, 20k and half marathon by 24", 3'11 and 3"03. The wind woke up at 12k, a freezing reminder that we still in mid winter. A good day out there.

My splits… Continue
