DESCRIPTION:RacingThePlanet:  Jordan 2012 is a seven-day, six-stage,
  250-kilometer self-supported footrace across the deserts of Jordan, 
 including Wadi Rum, and finishing in the World Heritage Site of Petra.
 \nThe RacingThePlanet roving race series has an annual event which mov
 es to a new location each year. The location may be anywhere from isla
 nds to deserts to mountains to jungles. Jordan has been chosen for the
  2012 roving race due to its remote and undiscovered deserts as well a
 s the ever present Bedouin culture. Previous roving races have taken p
 lace in Vietnam, Namibia, Australia and Nepal.\nRacingThePlanet follow
 s the same signature format of the 4 Deserts. Each individual must car
 ry his or her own gear, food and clothing for the seven days in a back
 pack. There are checkpoints approximately every 10 kilometers / 6 mile
 s and plenty of water (at checkpoints and campsites), tents (at the ca
 mpsites at the end of each stage) and medical assistance are provided
